THE CHURCH | WORSHIP GATHERINGS HOLDING CONCERT AT SVC COURTYARD

The Church | Worship Gatherings is holding its quarterly concert at the Southern Vermont College (SVC) courtyard on June 11th from 6:30-8 pm sponsored by: Grace Christian School, Capstone Church, Summit Church (The Vine), and Terra Nova Church (North Adams location). The event will feature a folk/rock style 4-piece band with Bennington native Joe Frey (Fry) leading the night. There will be an eclectic mixture of reimagined hymns, inspirational songs, and original work from Frey.

The Church | Worship Gatherings works under the idea of bringing the local community (The Shires of Vermont, Berkshires, Hoosick Falls, etc.) together for a night of encouragement not tied to any church denomination or certain group. Frey states, “I don’t think of ‘the church’ as a building. It’s a people and we invite ‘the church’ to come and freely worship Jesus.” The night is organized by local singer/songwriter Joe Frey and always features him and his drummer Joe Lauzon as well as local musicians from New England. Joining them on the 11th is husband and wife duo – Austin and Elizabeth Hill who are currently apart of the worship arts team at Terra Nova Church North Adams location with Frey.

This is the 3rd quarter in a row that Joe Frey has put on these nights with the first two hosted at Grace Christian School (www.gcsvt.org). There has been a build and buzz in the community as it has grown from 75 people in November to 120 in March. They are expecting around 150-200 at this event. Also, please note that there will be seating for the first 100 people that get there so come at 6:00-6:15 to ensure a seat or bring a chair. This is an all ages event but ages 16 and under have to be with an adult at all times.

Joe Frey has been traveling the country for five years playing at 400+plus events in that timeframe from the Northeast region all the way to Nashville. Whether he is playing solo or with a band his focus is to inspire communities to come together and explore a faith in God as he shares his story through the landscape of the songs he writes. “I am not anyone special, I was homeschooled and really knew only a small group of folks in Pownall growing up. I am so fortunate to be able to share my songs and stories with people all over the world. I have a heart for New England and I am happy to see what God is doing through my music.”

Frey recently released his third project, a five song EP called “Hold Fast.” It garnered positive reviews by national magazines: Worship Leader Magazine, Christian Musician Magazine, New Release Today, and CCM. He also received several international reviews, and most recently his band was a featured up-and-coming artist on the TBN show “Next” hosted by former American Idol finalist Danny Gokey.

Frey added, “I am really looking forward to the night, I am an alum of SVC (2008) and I worked there for three years in athletics so it’s nice to be home and see some familiar faces.”
