SVC’s Colleges Against Cancer and the Clip Shop Team Up for Hair Donation
Student members of Colleges Against Cancer at Southern Vermont College (SVC) are sponsoring an event on campus where individuals may donate their hair for a good cause. Hair stylists from Bennington’s Clip Shop will donate their time to cut hair at SVC’s Everett Mansion, Burgdorff Gallery, Tuesday, November 29, from 3 to 6 p.m.
Several SVC students have signed on for this special event and the SVC CAC Club has opened up the event to members of the community who would also like to participate. Hair must be at least eight inches to donate. The hair collected will be given to Pantene Beautiful Lengths, an organization which makes wigs for women with cancer.
The American Cancer Society’s Colleges Against Cancer is a nationwide collaboration of college students, faculty and staff dedicated to eliminating cancer by initializing and supporting programs of the American Cancer Society in college communities.
This event is one of many that will take place on campus as part of SVC’s Giving Tuesday” movement. “Giving Tuesday” refers to the Tuesday after Thanksgiving celebration in the United States; the movement was created as an international day of giving at the beginning of the holiday season.
