American Red Cross Blood Drive and Marrow Donor Registry Drive
Southern Vermont College (SVC) will host an American Red Cross Blood Drive on Thursday, April 13, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in Everett Mansion’s Burgdorff Gallery. Donors are required to be at least 17 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds. According to the American Red Cross, one blood donation can save up to three lives. The College invites and encourages community members to participate in the Blood Drive.
Also on April 13, the College will host a Marrow Donor Registry Drive in Burgdorff Gallery from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Donors must be between the ages of 18 to 44. The mission of the Marrow Donor Program is to “save lives by delivering cures to people diagnosed with life-threatening blood cancers through marrow transplants.” According to the Marrow Donor Program at Rutland Regional Medical Center, more than 14,000 patients are in need of this transplant.
