Students Benefit from SVC Professional Gear Closet

students view clothes at the Professional Gear Closet event Since 2016, Southern Vermont College’s Office of Career Development and Internships has been hosting the “Professional Gear Closet” for students twice each semester. With donations of clothing, shoes, and accessories from faculty and staff, students are able to find proper attire for interviews, internship sites, and prepare for jobs upon graduation. According to Director of Career Development and Internships Betsy Dunham, “At the last Gear Closet event, 70 students came and 120 items were taken. Even though the Gear Closet is a one-stop shop event, I’m always available to help students find just the right outfit for a job interview, internship, or class trip.” The College is grateful to the owner of Something Olde, Something New consignment shop in Slingerlands, N.Y., for their donated items for the Gear Closet.
