Ryan Stowell ’17Senior
TRIO Student of the Month for November 2017
A senior business major from West Springfield, MA, Ryan Stowell graduated from SVC in December 2017. He plans to attend graduate school in Fall 2018 and wants to pursue a career as a financial analyst.
Ryan has had several setbacks in his life before and during his time at SVC, but has refused to let anything prevent him from continuing on his chosen path. Actually, Ryan believes that his personal struggles have driven him to be more committed. Tutoring Coordinator Catherine Burns credits his maturity, dedication, and no-nonsense attitude, as well as his willingness to seek help when needed, as reasons for his success.
According to Business Division Chair Stacey Hills, “Ryan has taken full advantage of the opportunity to grow through out-of-class activities. His independent research project landed him at the National Conference for Undergraduate Research when he was only a sophomore. More recently, he has shown his leadership for our Ethics case team and our Adirondack Cup finance team. He is always pushing himself to be a better young
professional, and is a great role model for his fellow students.”
Ryan not only wants to be a better professional, but a better citizen. Catherine Burns admires his desire to give back to his family and his community, specifically the police officers of West Springfield, who Ryan believes need knowledgeable financial planning advice from someone they will trust. His willingness to help an important segment of his community for no remuneration exemplifies Ryan’s character and is one of many reasons he was the November student of the month.
