Administrative Assistant in the Center for Teaching & Learning
Southern Vermont College is seeking an Administrative Assistant for the Center for Teaching and Learning. The Center for Teaching and Learning is the main area for academic support services at Southern Vermont College. This is a twelve-month position at 32 hours per week with excellent benefits. Continuation of the Administrative Assistant position is contingent upon renewal of grant funding and proficiency in performance
Primary responsibilities of this position include: reception, using a database for data and record management, tracking student contacts, coordinating and compiling mailings, clerical assistance, assisting with budget management and purchasing, coordinating office workflow, scheduling meetings and events, note-taking, filing, copying, word-processing, and preparing reports, including but not limited to the federal Annual Performance Report.
The Administrative Assistant manages student records for the TRiO Student Support Services, which are housed in the CTL. This includes collecting and maintaining records regarding student TRiO eligibility. The TRiO Student Support Services program is a federally funded program that provides educational opportunity, academic support, cultural enrichment, and other supports to first-generation and lower-income college students, and students with learning differences.
Associate’s degree and minimum of two years clerical work experience, or equivalent combination of experience and education. The preferred candidate will be a reliable, flexible, adaptive, self-motivated individual with excellent organizational, interpersonal, and written communication skills, capable of working independently with accuracy and a high attention to detail. The preferred candidate must be able to manage multiple priorities and be able switch among multiple tasks. The ability to maintain confidentiality is required. The candidate must also have a welcoming personality, be able to demonstrate experience working with diverse populations, and be able to interact effectively with individuals in heightened emotional states. Strong computer skills are required. Candidate should have familiarity with Microsoft Office suite products, Gmail, and Google calendar. Experience with Microsoft Access and Excel is a plus. Experience with TRiO or Student Support Programs is desirable but not required. The preferred candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to the mission of Southern Vermont College and the Student Support Services program.
