Internship & Practicum FAQ for Students
|CAN I DO AN INTERNSHIP?|
To be eligible to enroll in an internship or practicum course, you must have completed a minimum of 64 credits (minimum junior status) and have obtained a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 2.0 or better.
|HOW DO I FIND AN INTERNSHIP/PRACTICUM SITE?|
|WHEN DO I START THE INTERNSHIP/PRACTICUM PROCESS?|
The process begins the semester before the course is completed. GO HERE for the process and timeline.
|HOW MANY HOURS WILL I COMPLETE?|
For every one academic credit, you will complete 40 hours on site. Students completing the practicum course will complete 130 hours on site and 30 hours of classroom and coursework hours.

YES! Whether you have questions for your faculty sponsor and/or Internship Coordinator about the internship/practicum process or you have a question for your site supervisor about why certain paperwork is filed at the site you’re working at – ASK!
|ACADEMIC ADVISOR VS. COURSE INSTRUCTOR: WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE?|
An Academic Advisor assists you with registration and oversees your academic path. A Course Instructor instructs the course and/or meets with you periodically to assess your internship, and also assigns your grade.
