Institutional Review Board
The purpose of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) is to oversee all activities involving research with humans conducted by faculty, students and staff of Southern Vermont College. The College acknowledges and accepts its responsibilities for protecting the rights and welfare of human subjects in research. Specifically, the Board is governed by ethical principles as defined by the Belmont Report including respect for persons, justice and beneficence.
Researchers should review the policies and procedures before submitting proposals. Researchers may design proposals and informed consent forms that work best for their research methodology and research participants. The forms below are suggested but not required. Members of IRB are available to consult with and assist researchers as they design their research. Researchers are encouraged to engage with members of the IRB throughout the process.
