Dean of Students Heather Quire Awarded by NEACUHO
Southern Vermont College is delighted to announce that Dean of Students Heather Quire received the Dr. Chester R. Titus Outstanding Service Award from Northeast Association of College and University Housing Officers (NEACUHO). This prestigious award was presented to Quire at the Annual Conference Awards Banquet in Mystic, Conn.
As a member since 2010, Quire has contributed significantly to the direction, administration, and governance of the association. From attending over 20 conferences, she was a presenter at more than 10 of them. Quire has written for the Navigator Newsletter and served as case study judge for new professionals at two annual conferences. She has been on numerous committees and task forces.
In 2015, Quire was approached on creating a position on the executive board for an assessment coordinator. She stepped into that position from 2016 to 2018 and has recently been appointed for another two-year term from 2018 to 2020.
“Receiving this award was unexpected,” said Quire. “I have been fortunate to have some great mentors and supervisors in my career path that have given me many opportunities to succeed, and now I hope that I can give back to the Resident Life/Student Affairs by being as involved as I can with NEACUHO.”
The award was renamed this year and dedicated in honor of NEACUHO’s founding father, the late Dr. Chester R. Titus. In 1955, as the first president of NEACUHO, Dr. Titus laid the foundation of the organization to its evolvement in present day. This award is given annually in the form of a plaque to an individual who has been a member of the NEACUHO organization for an extended period of time and has contributed significantly to the direction, administration, and government of the association.
