2019 Commencement Schedule
Revised 2-28-2019 – IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR GRADUATING SENIORS
NOTE: Commencement Ceremony will be streamed live at https://portal.stretchinternet.com/svc/.
Starting March 11 (before Spring Break), students may pick up graduation announcements from the President’s Suite (Mansion Room 208). The announcements will also be available on Cap & Gown Pickup Day during the week of April 22 (exact dates and times to be determined).
BEFORE APRIL 1
Graduates will need to pay their student account balance and complete loan exit counseling before they receive their cap and gown.
SVC STUDENT PORTAL: Review your student account balance. “My Billing” information” and share it with the person who pays your bill. All balances need to be paid in full in order to receive your cap and gown and diploma.
Update your address in the Student Portal: Log into the Student Portal and press the EDIT PROFILE button in the top left corner.
FEDERAL LOAN BORROWERS: Complete Exit Counseling: Go online to https://studentloans.gov., click in “Complete Exit Counseling.” Complete and submit the counseling session. Your FAFSA User Name and Password is needed to access your personal information. Save the confirmation page.

WEEK OF APRIL 22 – CAP & GOWN PICKUP
Monday, April 22, and Thursday, April 25: 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., Everett Mansion, Burgdorff Gallery
Tuesday, April 23, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., Healthcare Education Center
Caps and gowns will be available for pickup [locations to be determined] as long as the student has fulfilled their exit with Office of Student Financial Services. If graduates are unable to pick up their cap and gown on above dates, they can pick them up in the Everett Mansion, Room 205.
ACCOMMODATIONS AND ACCESSIBILITY
If your guests require special parking and seating arrangements at Commencement, please fill out this ONLINE FORM or contact Commencement Chair Kim Gould at email@example.com or 802-447-6333 by Thursday, May 2. Be prepared to provide the name(s) of your guest(s), their relationship to you, and what accommodations/accessibility is requested (e.g., to be driven or escorted to the tent, etc.).
FRIDAY, MAY 10
3:00-4:30 p.m. – HONORS CONVOCATION & ALPHA CHI INDUCTION CEREMONY
Honors Convocation is a celebration of student achievement and Alpha Chi is a national academic honor society. Both events will take place at Laumeister Art Center, 44 Gypsy Lane, Bennington, with a reception to follow. Plenty of parking is available at the Center, and shuttle service will be provided starting approximately 2:00 p.m. from campus.
THURSDAY, MAY 16
5:30 P.M. – LEAD COLLARING CEREMONY
This ceremony is for Radiologic Sciences graduates and will take place in the courtyard, outside of Everett Mansion, with a reception to follow. If it rains, the ceremony will take place in Burgdorff Gallery.
FRIDAY, MAY 17
TIME TO BE DETERMINED – GRADUATION REHEARSAL
Graduation rehearsal is mandatory for all graduates planning to march at Commencement. Lineup takes place on the front terrace of Everett Mansion. Note: If it rains, lineup will take place outside the library through first-floor hallway. Students graduating with honors will receive their recognition during rehearsal. If, for extenuating circumstances, you cannot attend rehearsal, please notify the Registrar’s Office at 802-447-6324 or firstname.lastname@example.org by Wednesday, May 1.
Following rehearsal, graduates are invited to a BARBECUE, located on the terrace at Everett Mansion. In case of bad weather, the barbecue will be held in Burgdorff Gallery. For graduates, the barbecue will be in lieu of dinner in the dining hall.
5:30-7:00 p.m. – NURSING PINNING
The Nursing Pinning Ceremony for Nursing graduates will take place at Laumeister Art Center, 44 Gypsy Lane, Bennington. Plenty of parking is available at the Center, and shuttle service will be provided from campus.
SATURDAY, MAY 18
10:00-11:00 a.m. – COMMENCEMENT BREAKFAST
All graduating seniors and their family are invited to a Commencement breakfast in the Everett Mansion Library. After breakfast, coffee and tea will be available until noon outside of the library near the grand staircase.
11:30 a.m. – CLASS OF 2019 PHOTOGRAPH
The Class of 2019 photograph will take place on the Cascade in the Courtyard of the Everett Mansion. It is important that all graduates are dressed in their cap and gown and in the Courtyard promptly at 11:30 a.m. Purchase information for the class photograph will be available online at a specific website, which will be accessed by graduates and their families. Within two weeks after Commencement this information will be posted at svc.edu.
12:30 p.m. – LINEUP OF GRADUATES
Graduates will line up on the Everett Mansion Terrace promptly at 12:30 p.m. for the 1:00 p.m. Commencement ceremony, with faculty, staff, trustees, honorary degree recipient, president, cabinet members, senior council members, and registrar.
1:00 p.m. – COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY
Commencement ceremony begins promptly at 1:00 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided in Burgdorff Gallery following the ceremony.

Please notify your family and friends who plan to attend Commencement to arrive early. Commencement begins promptly at 1:00 p.m. A Campus Safety Officer will instruct drivers where to park. The shuttle will start at 8:00 a.m.
