Nu200 Psychiatric Nursing 4 credits
This course introduces concepts of nursing care for patients throughout the lifespan with maladaptive psychosocial and physiological responses related to mental disorders. Development of communication skills, self awareness and the therapeutic use of self in selected clinical settings are integrated throughout. Teaching strategies include a combination of in-class lecture, in-class case studies, small group presentations and collaboration with faculty member to reach course objectives. 3 credit hours of classroom and 1 credit hours of clinical (90 hours of clinical per semester). Prerequisites: Nu 150 with a minimum grade of C+, Microbiology with a minimum grade of C+.
