Introduction to Healthcare I                     4 credits
The purpose of this course is to provide an introduction to healthcare systems in the United States. The course will provide an overview of the history of modern healthcare, issues and trends affecting the current delivery system, the concept of continuum of care as it pertains to healthcare settings and the role an advocate may play within the field. Aspects of health literacy, ethical/legal accountability for vulnerable populations and the responsibility of state and federal regulatory agencies will be explored as well as an introduction to the issues of healthcare reimbursement.
