Literature & Society 4 credits
Students will have an opportunity to explore a variety of literary works from various time periods, concentrating on literature’s use as both a reflection of its society and as a catalyst for social change. In looking into these works, students will consider their significance both to the time in which they were written, and to the world today. The ultimate goal of this course is to instill a greater understanding and appreciation of the intimate relationship between a society and its literature. Specific course content is chosen by the instructor. Prerequisite: Successful completion of both En101 and En102 or approval of Division Chair.
