Eric found out about Southern Vermont College through a former SVC student. While visiting SVC, Eric spoke with Men’s Soccer Coach Tim Penrod and knew this is where he wanted to attend school; the beautiful campus didn’t hurt either!
Eric has continued his love of soccer by becoming a member of the SVC team. He is also a campus ambassador in the Office of Admissions. So far, Eric has enjoyed Marketing and Sports Management classes with Professor Jeb Gorham. This semester, he likes taking Race, Ethnicity, Gender and Class with instructor Joan Sakalas.
After he graduates from SVC, Eric plans to continue his education in graduate school and focus on studies as an athletic trainer. When he finds the time, Eric works out at the Fitness Center on campus. He also likes to fish and watch other sports games including basketball, baseball and football.
Some of his favorite hangouts are Carmody’s, Madison’s and Ramunto’s, all restaurants in Bennington. For entertainment he listens to country music with some of his favorite artists including Luke Bryan, Tim McGraw, Jason Aldean and Brad Paisley.
Eric’s advice for high school students during their college search is, “Visit as many schools as you can. When you walk to that campus, it needs to feel right. After that, things will go smooth.” A saying that has always stayed with Eric is “Losing is temporary, giving up is permanent,” a statement instilled by a former middle school football coach.
